98' 600cc Suzuki katana?

Hey i was interested in buying a 98' 600cc Suzuki Katana. The guy says that it has 35000 miles on it and it is $2000. Now my problem is that i want a 500-600cc bike but i don't want to spend $3500+ on a bike. My question is should i look into this bike or should i try to find a different deal?
 
You have to check the suzuki out, that's not a bad bike and if you lay it down, big deal, that's what a first bike is for. Take someone who knows bikes go with you. It could be a weezer with that mileage and no regular maintenance.
