I have a 97 Jeep Gr. Cherokee Larado. It occassionally "grabs" in the rear when you start forward. One place I took it to said that the rear end is starting to "seize up" and the rear end underneath needs to be replaced with a rebuilt rack, etc or a new one. All at a cost of >1500. They also acknowledged that they could redo the bearings (repack or replace) and it MIGHT solve the problem. We had taken it in to local repair cause it needed inspection and engine light came on. I talked with Service Dpt. at Jeep Dealership to get 2nd opinion. They said to check gas cap re: engine light and we're going to take it in for 2nd check on Monday. Has anyone heard of rear end seizing up or is this a valid problem?
