My 97 Jeep cherokee 4.0L has been given me problems for a while. Everytime I turn off the engine the coolant is pushed out of the radiator into the reservoir bottle until the bottle starts to overflow. It overflows a good amount of coolant. After the engine cools down it sucks back the remaining coolant back into the radiator and there is normally no coolant left in the bottle so I have to add coolant.
I replaced the water pump, the thermostat, all the hoses, the radiator cap, flushed the radiator, cleaned out the reservoir bottle and the problem still persists. The only thing I have not changed is the temperature senor. The electrical fan seems to work. Normally, when it starts to leak coolant I turn the engine back on and let it idle and cool down a bit then shut it off, but gas prices are high and buying bottles of coolant every week is costly and walking with bottles of water in my car is making it junky. If anyone knows the solution to this problem let me know. Thanks!!
