97 Ford escort, heater zones not working ?

i have a vacuum controlled heater in my car. When you turn the knob to switch from Defrost to head to feet it doesn't switch its stuck on defrost. The knob is working cause it also turns on my blower motor and it blows heat. It just wont switch zones please help???
 
Follow your vaccume line back to the engine compartment. Look for cracks and replace the hose. Also check to see that it hasnt come off. Most of them will be mounted under the air cleaner. Good luck with this as escorts are notoriously hard to keep up. they were made cheap but not to last a long time.
