97 chevy s-10 blazer crank capacity?

I just purchased a 97 chevy blazer with the 4.3L V6 engine. The engine oil was just changed by the dealer, and they put in too much. I know from reading the manual that it only holds 4.5quarts of oil. Someone who doesn't know what they were doing wrote with white marker on the fan cover 5quarts of 5W-30, which is half a quart too much. So I drained out about half a quart to get it down to the full line, and checked it and it's still the same reading. I guess what I'm asking is if 4.5quarts is the correct capacity for the crank case, because honestly the oil is so fresh it's hard to see it on the dipstick too. Any help you can give is much appreciated;) Thanks!

the extra half a quart won't hurt the engine at all. much over that can but 5 quarts won't. i have a 4.3 and i always put 5 quarts in at oil changes. it barely reads above the line on the dipstick when i do.
