96 suzuki katana 600, custom exhaust i need some help?

you probably won't gain any horsepower, but you will more than likely lose torque. engines need a little backpressure to make effective torque. If nothing else, find a wrecked bike and take the can off of it. Straight pipes are illegal and annoying.
 
i dont want to buy a pipe to much or a full exhaust so i am goin to cut the pip at the end of the header put a y pipe on an then a pipe all the way back or just leave it underneath. will i lose power or gain it. it wil be louder i know.
