I have a 96 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 that has recently developed a bad idle. I'll start the car, and when its idling in park, its awful. Fluctuation between 100 and 1100 rpms and the thing runs like its about to die. However, When I put it into reverse/drive, the rpms immediately move to 850 and hold there steady, it runs like a champ and is smooth as anything. Back into park or neutral, and the idle becomes awful again. The difference is clear as night and day. No CEL lights or pending codes. What could this be? Any ideas on where to start looking? plugs/wires/coil/ignition module have already been done. Thanks for your help.
