so i went to the drag strip since it was grudge night.. i have a short shifter, my car is slammed, its got the sohc vtec d16y8 [sadly with 210,xxx miles], slight weight reduction mods, full length catback exhaust system [2.5"] and a short ram air intake.. and i ran my car twice.. first one was a 17.383 and second run was 17.125 both at 80mph. i've researched online and my car stock SHOULD be getting 16.7. i didnt know when to slow down so i would let off the gas before i pass the big final time sign.. did i screw up? or is my shit just outta whack? high mileage? i don't get it.. i even got second gear really good! i was driving that thing very hard..

That 16.7 is a pristine car with 100% compression on all cylinders. First off "weight reduction" means absolute crap unless you are pulling 500+ pounds out of a car and even then it will only give you about 1/4 of a second total. Second of all the short ram will actually make you lose torque in the low-mid RPM range where you will need it in the 1/4 mile. The 2 1/2 exhaust depends on what brand you have. A magazine recently did a dyno test on several exhausts on your car and the brand names actually made power, while some of the knock off styles from Ebay LOST power. I think a Greddy Evo2 exhaust made the most, I cant remember, but one of the Ebay brands, cant remember the seller or brand but it LOST 9.7 hp at the wheels! Hopefully you still have your catalytic converter also. You will also have to consider tires, traction, mileage, compression, fuel type, reaction time, shift points, and track conditions.
