96 Dodge ram question Please?

I have a 96 Ram and think the neutral Safety switch is out but cant find it. was told was on the left side above the pan facing rearwards. I have looked and so has a friend on the drivers side and i cant find it. was told by mechanic it was near the linkages goin into the trans but still cant find it.
 
look on the steering wheel housing under the dash it is on top and will be white most of the time it will look like a half moon. it is around 8 or 9 inches from fire wall will usually hae two wire on it.. and yes some are on the side of the trains at the shaft on trains. but beeing a 96 i would bet its on the steering column
