95 mazda protege help?

My mom has a 95 Mazda Protege, automatic trans, 1.5. nd im thinkin about buying it from her. Is there anything i can do to make it faster and cooler? because it doesn't have enough power to burn out and the acceleration is very slow.

nah dude, you want a fat car that can do burn outs, get a manual car.. that Mazda is prolly gonna die from all the abuse you will put it thro
 
The car is 14 years old already...I don't think it would be able to handle any more power. Even if it could, to give it more power, you'd probably need to install a bigger engine or do a lot of engine work to get more HP out of the little 4 cylinder engine. Either way, it will cost you a pretty penny to do so. Just not worth it for a car that old...buy it and drive it until it dies.
