95 Honda Civic ABS Unique problem?

Hi,

I have a 95 Honda Civic and the ABS suddenly stopped working. Before this I have perfom4ed few things on my car which are..

1) Changed Brake Pads
2) Changed Rotors
3) Applied brake sweak stop fluid
4) Under coat paint etc..


The problem now is it wouldnt turn the ABS light ON immediately after turning on the car, but but after say .1 mile, the ABS light comes up. I have tried showing it to few mechanics and all of them say they can not diagonise the problem.

The actual problem is ABS is not working and light only comes up after 0.1 mile of initial driving after turning on the car.

Any help is greatly appreciated through out this winter please.

the light does not come on immediately because electrically all of the cirucits are complete. the light comes on after 0.1 mile because a signal that should be received by the control unit when the car is in motion is not being sent by one of the sensors.

It would be safe to say that the sensor involved is a wheel speed sensor. There is one wheel speed sensor on each of the wheels. It is a magnetic signal generating sensor that sends a waveform signal as the metal teeth of the toothed ring pass through the magnetic field of the sensor.

when you changed the rotors or when you painted whatever you painted you undoubtedly did something to either displace the sensor or paint over it. you'll need to take the wheels off and see what happened to the sensor.

I don't think this is the case on your car but some cars have the toothed ring for the ABS sensor on the rotor. if you replaced the rotors with one that doesn't have the ring then that would be your problem.

check the wheel sensors for the wheels that you were working on and I think you'll find your problem. the wheel sensors should be on the inboard side of the brakes.
