So about a week or 2 ago my '94 Mazda Protege DX started making this loud clicking noise, it happens about 50% of the time I drive the car, day or night, and it sounds like the noise is coming from under the steering wheel area but it could also be coming from the engine I suppose. the best way I can describe it is its similar to the noise that the huge wheel on Wheel of Fortune television show makes, a loud clicking. When the car is idling the noise isn't there, only when I'm driving / accelerating and it gets louder the faster I go, and softer as I slow down, since it started I haven't done anything to the car mechanically, the only thing I can think of is this lady that wants to buy it took it for a test drive and revved it up excessively due to the fact that she hadn't drove a standard in a while, and the noise started maybe a day or two after this happened too I'm pretty sure.
I'm not very mechanically-inclined so I have no idea what it could be, but I thought I'd ask here first before I took it to the shop as the sound doesn't seem to be affecting the functionality of the vehicle. Does anyone know what the problem could be, and how hard it would be to fix? Thanks for any assistance or advice you can give me.
Yeah I think it is the air conditioning, I had it on a lot this past weekend I had the heater on as well, should I not use it anymore?
