94 jeep yj new motor?

I have a jeep yj 2.5 litre with a 4 cylinder. I would like a new motor either a v8 or v6.. What size and make will fit right in and also not have too much power for the stock transmission? I have heard of people putting 350 Chevys in them but I don't know about the transmission thing. Let me know if you can help I really need it
