94 Ford Escort 1.9L still runs rough.?

Okay, I changed the t-stat. It was stuck open. The temp gauge now goes into normal range and I have heat. It runs better, but is still missing badly. On acceleration, it sounds like it is backfiring into the intake. It still runs better when cold than after it is warmed up.

Whoa how many miles you got on that thing?? Don't run it until you check the timing belt. It may have slipt timing and its about to break. If it breaks your motor is toast. I'm not sure if it has the distributor but check that for timing too. The distributor may be sloppy or has moved.
