I have been working on a project car lately, a 93 MX6 2.0 5-Spd. I noticed a while ago that there is a rather large hole, roughly 4 inches long by 2 inches high, in the bottom front of the engine. (I'm not good with technical terms, so bear with me). The hole is visible while the motor is still in the vehicle, you can see the crank shaft. Obviously I need a new motor, I've accepted that... But what in the hell caused this hole!?
It does appear to have sharp edges and where the hole is, it's flattened out like it's been cut.
Also, all the pistons are still in the motor. Any ideas?
