Car has 130K just bought it a week ago. Had to replace the power steering cooler which we knew going into buying it but it drove great. First noticed problem a few days after purchase and after fixing the PS cooler with an aftermarket part from Advance Auto. The car was low on gas, loss of power, no acceleration when turning left. Put gas in it (3 times now), did not do it again for about three days. Today it got way worse, never stalled completely but would not accelerate over 30-35. I mean you can push that pedal all the way down and nada, no revving, no gas, just boggs down worse. May have heard a faint clunk sound once or twice when pushing pedal but mostly nothing. Gas tank is very rusty and car does kind of have a smell of gas but then again it has a V8 so not sure if that is normal. Any ideas?
Took the cover off the air filter which is clean and while doing that I noticed that there is a broken gasket underneath where the throttle body is located. I am sure it wont be all that simple though never usually is.
I think you are right about doing all of that stuff, it did sit for quite a while. Does not seem like it was really driven much given the good shape of the body and interior (not the frame though, I live in Iowa LOL). I drive A LOT. I am wondering if you could message or email me and possibly tell me what the name of that gasket that is below the throttle body, not very big, thin, and round, maybe 6-8 inches in diameter, it was in a few pieces. Thanks!
