93 cadillac eldorado 4.6L. transmission knocking when cold in 1st and sometimes 3rd-4th?

after warming the car up, constantly running for about 20-30mins the knocking stops. the transmission has only slipped once. when putting the engine and transmission under stress it still responds very well. any ideas?
 
it probably could stand a good fluid and filter change but don,t flush it unless you want more problems. just drop the pan and change the fluid and filter. if you like you can throw some good conditioner in with the new fluid, something like( BG) or what i use is ( trans-medic )
 
First, do a oil pressure test, if it is weak, get a new oil pump installed now !
And, if you haven't done so, have your local repair shop do a transmission tune up !
If your ECM starts acting up, buy a after market ECM, the dealership will set you waaaaayyy
back ! These cars sometimes have a problem with the ECM as they get older, this is the norm!
 
are you sure its the transmission and not the engine if trans is bad won't be knocking but will sound like bad gears and do it all the time did you check engine oil if its low will give you sound you are explaining i know you won't want to hear this but gm has had problem with both engine and trans for this year but i would look at engine first
