Hey Guys/Gals,
I am really glad that i have found this forum, and I am hoping that i will hopefully get some help.

I currently have the 9200HDPVR and on Saturday night everything was fine, it was recording a show late at night. I woke up sunday morning to see that the Green power light was on and it would only stay on for about 10-15 secs maybe a little longer.

I called bell and they told me its the power supply and i have to send it back for 150.00 plus shipping. I am not sure why it would be because i have it sitting on my cabinet with no doors on it whatsoever.

So i checked all my connections and everything and now I am getting a signal, and then it dies again in an hour or so and reboots back up? Is it possible because i have not changed the smartcard yet? It didn't have one to begin with. Thanks guys and I hope you can help!

Sincerely,

Justin

Things can break for no apparent reason. I would suggest you power it off (pull the power plug) for few minutes, then power back up. You could also run a check switch from the menu afterward. I don't think they can diagnose a bad power supply remotely, but that could be the problem. If it's out of warranty and you don't have dish care, your only recourse is to get it replaced and $150 for a refurb is the official price. Good luck.

Oh, and I doubt your problem is Smartcard related.

If you end up having to send it back for $150 maybe you should try to set the new 9240 for 199 that they're offering new customers. It can't hurt to ask (insist )

well after 1hr on the phone to find out that i have a refurbished unit whose warranty expired, i threatened to leave them and i am getting the 9242 now free rental for a year, due to the issues i've had since i signed with them in April! So needless to say, they did do enough today(i decided to call after comments on here about the retention team) that almost made up for the absolute lack-luster service yesterday.

Oh well. What can u do!

as for the issues i've done everything even changing out the DP44 Power inverter!

Thanks guys!

Anyone finding it funny that there are reports of some broken 3100s sounding similar to this and now a 9200?!??! All in the last 2 days!

Not really. 3100's in particular are becoming quite "old" by technology standards. A couple of similar posts out of the thousands of members here is not uncommon and doesn't necessarily mean the sky is falling :)

I had the exact same problem with my 9200 on Friday night! Rebooted itself 3 times in a row. I finally unplugged the unit for a minute and then plugged it back in. That seemed to solved the problem....for about 24 hours. Then it did it all over again. I repeated the same steps and it's been fine since. I've also had some timers that failed to record lately....as if I never even set them.
