92 Honda Dash lights dim when headlights on!?

Hey I bought a 92 honda civic a bit ago and when I turn on the headlights the dash lights seem to dim and the car runs a bit rougher. Now I don't know too much about mechanics in general but my thoughts are my alternator must be going?

I would like to put my 950W Amp and subwoofer in but im afraid it may be too much for the alt or w/e the problem may be.

please anyone have a solution/answer?
 
Ya it would probally be the alternator or the battery is just low. Try giving it a jump and turn on the head lights then. If it gets better then it was just a low battery. But if it starts doing it again after doing this then its the most likely the alternator
