'92 Buick Regal problem: Better options than replacing the PCM?

A mechanic used engine cleaning fluid in my '92 Buick Regal Custom. After that, the car was extremely sluggish, and the engine light came on. It stalled several times in city driving. The same mechanic replaced spark plugs and wires. The problem got worse. I took it to another mechanic, who replaced the clogged fuel filter.

About the engine light: he says the codes scrambled, and the car needs a new PCM.

I went online and based on what I read, it seems that checking or replacing the EGR valve / MAF sensor would be good first options. These kinds of problems could cause the stalling, right? Would they also affect the engine light?

He says there's also an oil leak in the engine, and the engine needs resealed, but it is not an absolute necessity.

How does this figure into everything?

I'd appreciate all ideas and advice. I just can't afford unnecessary labor and parts.

Thank you!
