I have a 91 ford probe and I can't get the heater fan to come on when I turn the knob.I tried to check the fuse but the only fuse I can find that would relate to the heater is the defog fuse but it's not like a regular fuse it's a black fuse you can full apart but I don't know how to tell if it's blown. Is there anything else I could try I don't have a diagram for the fuses under the hood to see if any of them would be the problem any tips will help thanks.

ok I'm pretty sure the heater core has nothing to do with the fan turning on thats not even related to a power problem if I knew I was gonna be asking idots I wouldn't have posted my problem I know more about cars then to tell someone there heater core is causing the problem of there heater fan not coming on with you hit the switch.

You're right, the fan is an electrical problem not a coolant problem. It's been a few years since I've been a mechanic so I'm not familiar with he probe line. But with a common test light you should be able to trace the problem to the source. Turn the fan on and with the test light touch off each wire going through the fuse. You will have to pierce the wire with the point of the test light so some liquid electrical tape would be a good thing to have on hand. If you get light on one side of the fuse but not on the other and you have the right wire it's the fuse.
