90s Rap Song Stuck In my Head (Help Identify)?

this is a shot in the dark but i recently heard nas - hate me now and it reminded me of another rap song

i dont know the name or the lyrics, but i can hear the beat in my head. its really irritating
[bass] da da da di da (repeat)
sounds like violins, the pace is fairly quick as i remember

if i remember right it was fairly popular and came out in the 90s maybe early 2000s

anybody have any guesses
