89 probe wont start with starting fluid but still getting spark?

car turns over fuel pump is new and reset switch is new but it just wont start whether i use starter fluid or just gas
checked for spark and it is getting it and compression is fine so is timing
its a 2.2 four cylinder fuel injection non turbo
