88 Ford Taurus, is it possible to cap off the heater core?

We are moving to Hawaii and the temperture hardly ever gets below 60 degrees. No use for the heater core needs work done but to have that done will cost a lot of money at a shop. Wondering if a shop can just cap it off, so we just dont even use it. Thanks in advance!
 
yes it can be cap off you run a hose from the one side to the other side where the heater core would flow out. thus making it loop back to the engine..
