My 86 dodge ram's EGR light came on like a month ago. the past week it's been losing power in almost every gear, esp. 1st and 5th. it does NOT want to go uphill anymore but until this it had a good amount of power/ran like a champ! Any suggestions as to what to check out could be wrong with it are greatly appreciated!! It's also periodically blowing black smoke which leads me to think it's an emission problem or something in particular with the EGR (light erm...) valve but I can't afford to tank money into a part if I'm not at least 50% sure I need it!! O_O
oh, it didn't blow any type of black smoke before this past week.. in conjunction with the other problems it seems. getting really sh^&** gas mileage now too.
