8310 not as useful as 8330?

I bought a BB 8330 earlier this year and loved it. I could connect to my wireless router in my home for better reception and also for web browsing without a data plan. Changing the ringtone was easy and I even was able to load my own homemade ringtones onto it. I could rearrange the icons and make them invisible if I wanted.
Then my BB was stolen.
I read a little bit and found that the 8310 has GPS on it, so when I bought my next phone I bought an AT&T 8310 and unlocked it.
Now, I can't do ANY of the things I loved about the 8330 and I can't get the GPS to work without a subscription even though I KNOW it should.
This is probably due in part to my buying an AT&T phone, it's probably in their programming, but can anyone tell me, is the 8310 just less useful than the 8330? And can anyone help me unlock these features PLEASE?
Thanks.

Just curious here...I the curve 8330 and said you connected to your wifi network. You are gonna have to tell me how you did that because my 8330 has no wifi. Sorry I can't help you with the 8310.

As the other post mentioned the 8330 is a cdma only device and doesn't have Wifi. I believe the 8320 does. I will look into it more when I get home but the 8310 should be able to do what you are wanting it too. Have you made sure to go into connections and turn wifi on?

The 8310 has GPS, but no wifi. If you are not using the device on the carrier it was made for, you may not be getting the right service books from your provider to make the GPS work properly.

Now worries that was my guess when you said Wifi. Sorry you didn't get a better answer but as azstar stated no wifi on the 8310.
