8 Mile

What an amazing film. The critics were right, Eminem is a surprisingly good actor. Probaly not Oscar winning standard but very good all the same.

The film doesnt try to be anything its not, there are no crappy action scenes or anything like that. It's one of those films were not much seems to happen but the story manages be gripping.

The soundtrack will also have you bopping you head up and down throughout.

What is it about this film?

My girlfriend went to the cinema at the weekend to see Lord of the Rings and had to go out to complain about some youths who wouldn't stop talking throughout the film, giving away the plot etc despite being asked.
Anyway, when she went to complain the guy said "thats nothing, the youths coming to watch 8 mile tried setting fire to the seats"!

Is it a certain type of person this film is attracting or what? I don't know as I have no idea what the film is about.

The film is about the Detroit Hip-Hop scene, with Eminem starring as a rapper trying to make it big.
Roudy youths are the sprt of thing which can happen at the screening of any film, so I'm nt sure that the topic has much to do with it.

I was quite suprised as I really enjoyed 8 mile. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was quite fun. The hip-hop battle at the end was like rocky without the physical stuff and it was bloody fantastic. I want to go and see it again actually.

'It's 7.30am' just cracked me up!

its a good Film, but i think a life story on 2pac would have made a more complete film as Eminem didnt exactly have it as rough as most other rappers.

saw this this week - it was enjoyable enough, but I thought it would have had more substance to it, re jimmy gaining the respect of the black community, and how he went about it.

in the end tho', it was really down to a more personal dispute with the Free World crew, and what happened with his mate/potential *manager*.

also, the whole *battle* thing - admittedly eminem's last one was pretty show stealing, but the basic jist of this ie simply putting your opponent down, reflected a more negative side to rap, whereas plenty of rap probably has more positive social comment to make.

i went to see this film back in early jan via free preview tickets from the bbc @ manchester, i thought marshall (Eminem) acted well but the film was slow moving the best bit was the hip-hop battle near the end but i thought the film finished strange as if the story may go on. over all i liked it, not the best film but a must see if you like him.

i saw it on saturday night and i thought it was great. i loved the final battles and when eminem is singing his own version of the alabama song. i reckon there must be a sequel bcoz the ending was him just walking off. maybe an 8 Mile 2 or a 9 Mile? who knows.
