79 dodge 318 backfires through the carb?

I bought a 79 dodge that runs fine. It has a rebuilt 318 in it. Less than 30k on the engine. Like i said, it runs fine but it backfires through the carb. my assessment is that the timing must be off. Just wanna know if anybody else has any other ideas

another issue is a burnt valve.

May be that the distibutor is out of adjustment.....is not properly advanced

either the timing is off or it has a plug wire crossed on it or it has vacuum leak on it somewhere,first check the timing and check the cap for a crack in it or a bad spot or burnt spot,one drawing moisture will pop back through the carb like that when it has a bad cap on it,check the vacum advance unit on it also they will cause that too happen,good luck on it.
