755p questions regarding internet

So, I took my phone to get it flashed, not sure how they did it, but it works.

I then setup the web by using these instructions: Here. I can surf to every page through the browser that I've tried, so that's awesome.

Now, here's my questions:

1. I'm in Portland, and I downloaded the cricket update software with *228, but my downloaRAB are still slow. Any idea what I need to do to get the EVDO working?

2. Aside from using webmail, is there any way, through versamail or another program, to get an email program downloaded to the phone on cricket?

3. The 755p comes with a google maps program, but it can't connect. It says, program requires a data connection and then says "error: network timeout." Of course, I can get to google maps just fine through the browser. Any ideas on how to get this app working? If not, should I just delete it?

4. Is there a way to get AOL instant messaging?

4. The phone came with a bunch of preloaded applications and links: On Demand, Sprint TV, Get Nuance (voice recognition), Get good, sprint store, etc. Should I just delete these and unclutter my menu or do they serve a purpose even though I won't be on Sprint?

Thanks in advance. I'm sure these are pretty basic questions, but this is only my second cell phone, but first smartphone and first flashing experience.

2. i dont think anyone has had any luck with email other than webmail. but i could be wrong

3. try connecting to the internet before opening the google maps program.

4. no. but your can try ebuddy mobile. its a web based messenger

5. most of the sprint programs wont work with cricket. so you could just get rid of them.

1. Does your hanRABet have the "Ev" Icon or the "1X" icon. If its 1X than you didn't get EvDo or you arent in an EvDo Equipped location. (EEL)

2. No. Cricket has all ports other than 80 and 8080 set to stealth. If it requires data to come in via a port other than 80 or 8080 than it will not work with the Cricket proxy system.

3. Google Map's works fine on my phone. So i'm not too sure. Make sure that you have data settings set correctly in the app.

4. No.

4. (Should be 5). Delete them. Cricket doesn't have the asset servers or anything so they are just taking up space. and GetGood requires a internet connection with some special ports open so that won't work either.

Thanks for all your help.

So, I think I just have these questions left:

1. EVDO: My phone doesn't have the 1x or EV icons. But, the data connection (the little arrows above the reception bars) indicate it is not on EVDO. These are the treo icons (here ). What settings could I change? I don't have a hybrid option under network connections, either.

3. Google Maps, anyone else have an idea why this wouldn't be working. There don't appear to be any options I can change in google maps regarding the proxy.
