'74 Honda Z50 is popping in high Revs, why?

I just put on a new brand new 88cc piston upgrade and it has a 20mm carburetor and a bigger oil pump too. I start it and it idles just fine. Once I put it gear and give it gas, a popping noise happens repeatedly until it simply idles again. Any ideas? Thanks.
 
either the carb's mixture is off.. the timing is off.. or the timing is not advancing properly
