The new BlackBerry 7130e, an EV-DO enabled device for both data and voice will be available by the end of this year.

Bell Canada has unveiled what it calls the “fastest mobile data network ever commercialized.”

Dubbed EV-DO (Evolution Data Optimized), this Bell Mobility third generation (3G) wireless network delivers data download speeds of up to 2.4 Mbps, which Bell says is five to seven times faster than anything else currently available in Canada. Bell says comming versions, will surpass that speed – going up to 3.1Mbps.

Nice looking device. I like the fastests data transfer part too.

That brings up a good question. Anyone know the speeds US carriers are getting?

I've never paid much attention, but it would be cool to know. Especially if there is a big difference from one to the other.

i still think this could be the best entry into the 71xx market though. Thank goodness Verizon is offering a better Blackberry than previous attempts.

Maybe they're realizing they've missed the boat in the past and Cingular and T-mobile have whooped them bad as being the #1 and #2 BB providers in the US.

Guys, rest assured, after playing with the 8700 a few times. You will love the speed the Cingular Edge Data network. The web broswer is beautiful and fast. Also Cingular is quitely rolling out its HSDPA network. I will post what the real world speeds we are getting at the bottom of this post. Cingular HSDPA network will be faster and do both voice and Data at the same time. " What does that mean ?" It means you can do a live Video Calls and talk at the same time. Current Data services for all carriers, you can only do one at a time. Verizon is currently working on a revision A for their EVDO Network to compete with the speed of HSDPA and do Voice and data at the same time. . The Downside is, it will be a year or so before it is ready, and Cingular will already be fully deployed.

As promsed..
