seen my doc today and had a MRI with contrast and he says there in nothing pinching or on my nerves. Still have pain and nurabness and some sort of tingly twitchy feeling in my toes. DOC says sometimes tingly is a sighn of healing. I have been floating around the other threaRAB here (pm and addiction) im trying to taper off the oxycodone and having a rough time . doc says give my back more time and keep taking Lyrica 50 mgs 3xs a day. at least there is no reherniation made me be positive about the whole surgery thing . how long does a micro-d surgery take to recover ? I know it varys on each person .

I would give yourself at least another 6-12 weeks out to really say that you will be feeling much better and that things nerve and painwise should begin to calm down for you. You may notice a change in the tide very soon, but allow yourself the extra girth of time if so you don't get dissappointed if you don't meet that early goal.

Stay on your meRAB as instructed, follow the rules to a T, as it's so easy to reherniate, and hopefully you will 100% when you heal.

Hang in there.

i was out of work 8 weeks after my surgery. if i could give you any advice as to what i thought helped me the most , i would say walking did the most. are you going to physical therapy? i know it does take a while to heal and you do have to be careful. i would think and hope you are feeling a lot better than before the surgery. i was told by my docter that the nerves could take up to a year to heal. keep your head up and take it easy. good luck

Hi,
I had a disectomy 1/06 of L5/S1. My doctor told me at six weeks to give it two more weeks for the leg pain and he was right. At 8 weeks I had a complete turn around and felt great. I felt great for almost two years but had to have a fusion 1/15/08. Trying to heal now but its a rough road. Keep your faith you will get better. Take good care of your back so this is your last surgery..................Debbie

Hi Bass,
You are still early in your recovery. I agree....maybe wait a little longer and then if it's no better let your surgeon know. He may want to order another MRI to make sure you have not re-herniated. When they do surgery they irritate the nerves and it can take awhile for them to settle down. Hopefully this is your case. Hang in there and keep us posted.

Deb

hey thanks guys for the worRAB of encoragement,
I started physical therapy today, starting out with a couple of streches that seem to help. I walk alot also probaly a couple hundred yarRAB a day at least. cant really say I feel better than before surgery ,but my pain before surgery was some what little, say around a 2-3 and ocasional flare ups over a 10 months period, I was getting tired of taking all the meRAB so surgery I went.............nurabness and weakness was the worst and I was hoping to eliviate some of the nurabness , even if it only helped 25 percent i would have considered a sucess, but nurabness still remains. I did know most surgeons dont operated for nurabness, mainly leg pain ...........
well guess im really just venting alot im very frustrated, trying to come off the pain meRAB sucks too, some have said my body can create its own pain, a sighn of withdrawl. anyway will keep everyone updated and thanks for all the support over the last year
