The Day The Music Died
From the perspective of The Doors Looking at Jim Morrison

Music is the holiness
Music is the life
Rehearsing with the famous doors
God gave us rock and roll
In fact he did
We controlled the world
With our fiercest beat and deepest lyrics

March the first 1969 this stopped
For Jim Morrison was put in the pens of iron
The doors were torn with windows shattered
All of the while

Indian dances tight black leather
Opening the doors of perception
Into your deepest mind

His poetic verses blew the world away
He broke on through to the other side
His eyes had seen me
But they didn’t want to sing
His voice and his lyrics were the perfect team
He wasn’t perfect
But good enough to keep the world spinning

So convinced he was he had to sing
He knew it was his destiny
Jim Morrison truly was the lizard king
For he could do anything
For he came back with tape and window pane
Screaming in is screaming out
No more was he the rocker
But the artist

His voice deepened
To chant a spooky tune
He chanted the art
Spin the web of words

Riders on the storm
Into this house we’re born
Into this world we’re thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm

We beat his lyrics
Shred the guitar
This is who we truly are
And Jim knew the time was right
He wanted Paris
He wanted it now

Shocked were we
But a songbird who sings
Chirped in our ears
He must relax
Lay off alcohol
Realize his inner vision
It must be done

Take it easy he did not
Took more and more
He couldn’t walk
No one knew but the one named Pam
She hated it
But little she did

Jim was gone
Still we worked
Ready for everything
We only needed Jim
For our new LA Woman

The phone started ringing
The dead voice said
Jim is dead

The rocker
The poet
The artist was gone
James Douglas Morrison was no more
He is dead
And no one knows
The reasons
We had to dream another dream
Ours was over
We were one door down
This is The End
Of my only friend

Ok the line God Gave Us Rock And Roll is a reference to a Kiss song
He broke on through to the other side
His eyes had seen me
lyrics to doors songs of course
But a songbird who sings LED ZEPlyric
We had to dream another dream
Ours was over
lyric to a van hagar song

this like a doors song has not one rhythm or feel but many. It is not a lyrical poem though. there's alot going on between the lines some obvious some are not...
Like I said before it's a mixed feel. don't count on being able to flow with the same tone while reading it.

I posted this before on a differnt account. This poem started as a research paper then my teacher told me to write a poem for it wrote something almost exactly the same as this in 15 mins.
Please post your thoughts and suggestions...
hehe thanks to the first person... it was written by me in sixth grade i entered it in a contest it didnt get published prob cus of drug refrences... but judges loved it and didnt even have ny suggestions...
