i have 64bit vista home premium, 500GB hardisk, AMD athlon X2 dualcore 6000+ processor (its capable of running 64bit).

ok. now i had 2GB ram on there(2sticks 1GB each). today i added 4GB more(2sticks 2GB each). turned my pc on and it still shows 2GB...why is that, arent 64bit suppose to run 6GB?

i updated that place where it shows ur overal score based on windows index, but it still shows 2GB. why isnt it showing all 6?

It might be because your supposed to run all the same size sticks. It try taking out the 1gb and see if you have 4. If so then go buy another 2gb and put that in.

If its not the same brand of ram than they might not be compatible and will not work.

Is your POST showing all 6 Gigs? If not your board may not support it... Also, the memory may be incompatibe with your system as until recently the max memory for a lot of systems in the Dual Core Class was 4 Gigs and some even stopped at 2 Gigs.

I would start with the hardware manufacturers specs for your board or tower and if they say it is supported look for a bios update or bios setting before ruling out compatibility.

Do me a favour. Right click on Computer in the Vista menu area and select the last item...Properties. Look about 1/3 the way down under System and look at how much RAM that it shows. If it still only shows 2 GB of RAM and not 6 GB of RAM then your computer is not recognizing the additional 4 GB that you installed. You either bought the wrong RAM or your mother board can't handle that much/type of RAM.

u need to get an update for vista for supporting the RAM..... as it needs an update if RAM is over 4GB
