67 Chevy c10 generator light is on. No external regulator! New internal regulated...

...alternator.? I have a new internal regulated alternator(Delco 12SI). New EZ wire harness. I get 12.8v with engine off, 14.4v engine on? Generator light only comes on when alternator starts charging at rpms, but once it is on it stays on even at idle or rev. If I start the truck with no revs light stays off and i have 12.9v, I give it revs and light comes on and I am at 14.9 then back down to idle and have 14.4 with light on?

Any ideas?
