A few months ago at a house party, some rascal kept turning my Panasonic SCAK750 stereo (quite a beast) up to full volume. As a result, the speakers now produce a very muffled, scratchy, hopeless sort of sound, and I have decided to try and replace them.
The two speakers I have lying around are Wharfdale Diamond 7.1, each 100w and 8ohm impedance. My plan was just to strip the wires and change the square adapters of the Panasonic wire to match the 'wrap around style' of the Wharfdale speakers and hope for the best. However, if you've not already guessed I don't really have a clue what I'm doing and I don't want to blow a nice pair of speakers if I can avoid it.
So my question is, is this possible, or will the difference in power be too great and damage the speakers? And if it is possible - do I need to make any alterations or can I just chop away? Normally I'm a 'try and see what happens' king of guy, but I'm trying to avoid damaging these last speakers!
Any help greatly appreciated.
