66 dodge charger running rough after parked?

I parked the car about 8 months ago with a under 2 gallons of gas. I added more fresh gas. When i hit the accelerator it feels like the tranny is slipping. Or could it just be a clogged carb? Any help would be great. Do I just need to drive it and work out the "sludge" in the carb or should i take it off and go through it. Thanks
