6100 slow guide load up time

Hey Everyone,

Sorry if this has already been answered but I found nothing... My 6100 always takes forever to download the guide being stuck at "downloading guide..." Is anyone else seeing this? If so how long? I have seen the progress bar get to the end and then just hang for a bit and then it either completes or I have to start over again, pretty frustrating!

When I owned a 6100 I found the best thing to do was to power off the receiver via the remote every night and I no longer had this problem. It seems that when the receiver is on, it has trouble completing the download. If the receiver is off, the download completes.

I am guilty of leaving it on all the time, however, when you turned it back on again the next morning/day/evening, did the same annoying problem occur or does it download while off? I will try here and see.

All Bell receivers should be turned off overnight or when not needed, that way they can update the guide and/or the software.

Should not see anything at all if yu have downloaded the guide overnight, the receiver should just come straight on.
 
No, as long as the receiver was off during the night, the guide was populated and worked fine.
 
My 6100 does a similar thing occasionally. I always switch off with the remote. I have found that the problem can be corrected by reseting the receiver. After it resets and gets that update, it works OK for awhile, maybe a couple of weeks, maybe a month with the guide updating when it's off.
Then it becomes a problem again. I suspect the problem might be associated with the way I surf channels and click the info key. If I do it too quickly without letting the info fully load, I seem to trip the problem. Sometime I click too quick when I can see the info is just the "series" or usual puffery like they usually put on some programs like Raymond. No info about which episode just info about the whole series. Seems to be more and more of this.
The monthly fee's seem to go up as the quality goes down. Time for a change!!
