Anyone know of a software where you can edit the 3g bands that the nokia 5230 has? the nokia site says it has both 850/2100 and 900/1900 in the hardware but only one of the two will be active. on my phone i have the 900 3g band active and im in canada so no 3g connection at all and rogers uses the 850 band. just trying to actually use my phone as a 3g phone. tried contacting nokia a few times but no luck. any help is apprecitive.

since its possible now to create and edit cfw's and the like hopefully this problem wont be 2 big.

There are different versions of the Nokia 5230. Not all Nokia 5230 phones support 1700MHz, just as not all of them support 850 and 1900MHz 3G.

Chairsz, you pretty much have 2 choices which are to use the phone in GSM only mode or to buy another phone.

this what the nokia site has on its specs for the phone it says that both the 850/1900 AND 900/2100 are present in phones hardware. My phone because i purchased it online through a UK seller has the 2100/900 WCDMA or 3G bands but i need the alternate ones active which is the 850/1900. The edge bands are simply the quadband frequencies 850/900/1800/1900 which sucks for DL. So once again nobody knows of a hack or mod to enter this area in the phones firmware to change this particular Factor?
