How much money you got?

Hi, this evening i rode my 1999 Honda SH50 2 stroke twenty miles to my friends and just as we took it up quite a big hill, it stuggled and completely cut out. When trying to restart it, the engine would turn over for a second and then die.
We got it to the point where it would idle but would cut out if we tried to open the throttle at all..however it now cuts out on idle after a few seconds, if we can get it to start at all..
Now before the hill it was running perfectly, however during the 20 mile ride to my friends, i was travelling down a hill and the bike was on the limiter (Over it a little) and i can remember hearing a sort of bang and the sound of something falling off as stupid as it sounds, i then lost alot of power, however after a few seconds it ran fine to get me to my destination.
Really not too sure where to go from here, tried giving the spark plug a wipe but not sure what i did in such a short amount of time could of broken it? =[
Have just let it sat "off" for an hour or two and it has now started..was it a result of flooding the engine and was any permanent damage done?
After starting after sitting a while (thinking it was now fine) i was able to open the throttle however when i restarted it, it's gone back to cutting out =[
