(Jordan Steffen, The Denver Post)Denver police and fire officials are on scene of an arson-homicide investigation after five bodies were found inside a bar and grill early Wednesday morning.
Denver Police Chief Robert White said the call came in around 1:50 a.m. reporting a fire at Fero's Bar and Grill, located at 351 South Colorado Boulevard.
Firefighters battling the blaze discovered the bodies of four women and one man inside. They were pronounced dead at the scene, White said.
"It appears there was some trauma to the bodies, it also appears to be an arson," White said at an impromptu 5:30 a.m. news conference.
White would not elaborate on the nature of the trauma.
The names of the victims were not immediately released, and autopsies
were pending.White said it was unclear if the bar was closed or in the process of closing at the time.
Southbound Colorado Boulevard is closed between Alameda and Virginia avenues due to the ongoing investigation. Northbound lanes have reopened.
