i recently got a new desktop that has a 7.1 surround sound socket in the back. i have a 5.1 surround sound that has two red and white audio components which i have an adapter to make it to a regular audio jack. there are like five different audio jacks in the back of my desktop and i've tried each and none of them seems to get me the 5.1 either two works and some don't. i ended up using the regular headphone jack in the front but that is only giving me stereo (two speakers). i tried messing around in the settings but no luck. am i stuck getting a 7.1 surround sound? i have windows 7 home premium on dell studio desktop.
5.1 on a 7.1 surround sound, i'm getting stereo?
