4Kids: Can Chaotic Keep it afloat?

It has now been confirmed by a TMNT rep on the Technodrome, that 4Kids has canceled all but Chaotic, and the company is planning to focus on commercials and as needed projects.

Does anyone think Chaotic has the power to keep the company afloat, or, like all the other card based games before it, will last a good 3-4 years before going into obscurity?

I've only seen bits and pieces of the Flash animated version. I'm just peeved that all the animation budget went to fund it's season 2, while Turtles suffered.

If 4kids can't keep Chaotic afloat, then the company is pretty much finished.

It's just about the only show that brings them in money, and if Chaotic fails to take off, 4kids will pretty much be out of the cartoon biz.

I've seen bits and pieces of Season 2, it's really purdy now. However, I still don't like the fact that its plotlines tend to be modernized throwbacks to 1980's drivel, in other words, the show doesn't disguise that it is designed to sell merchandise all that well like TMNT 2003 did and Huntik does.

Back To The Sewers, to me, looked like it had the leftovers from the Chaotic team working on it, considering the two shows' animation styles were quite similiar but TMNT animated worse.

I remember reading a while back that Chaotic was the #3 most popular TCG series in America. It was only beaten out by Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon.

That's pretty impressive for a series that has only been around for 2 years. If they can manage the series properly, then they may survive this financial crisis.

Well, that's in terms of original productions. They'll still acquire third-part shows like Kamen Rider and Huntik as well as dub shows like Yu-Gi-Oh! and GoGoRiki.

IMO, the first half of M'arrillian Invasion was mediocre, but the second half has been pretty good so far with some interesting plots developing and very few pointless BattleDrome matches.

As for the subject on hand, it's going to be a tough struggle especially in these economic conditions, but 4Kids has a couple of tricks up their sleeve. Chaotic already has proven to be a success in Canada where it's the number one show for boys 6-11 on Teletoon. They need to mirror that success elsewhere, so right now they're aiming for it to get a major cable network in the U.S. so it can air on weekdays, just like it is in Canada. They also have plans to launch it in Europe with a similar strategy in the next few months.

And finally, Chaotic doesn't need to be a huge hit like Pokemon or Power Rangers. Since 4Kids owns everything Chaotic, they just need a reasonable profit from the TCG and they should be set.
