...Why are Republicans giving in to Iraq debate now and not after 2006 elections? http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20080228/ts_csm/aprowar;_ylt=Agrj.9NcgTCAVqV9AUnMaACNe8UF

Would it have helped if they had agreed to a debate after 2006 elections rather than play politics with the Democrats like they always do.

In nov. there will be other elections besides the one for the presidency. It is probably a safe political move for the republicans knowing Bush will veto the bill. It will sound good while they are campaigning. They dont want to give up any more ground to the democrats.

They are suppossedly trying to get the Democrats where they think they need to be and with Bush a big looser, they will do anything in their own way to protect themselves. And the Democrats will come out on top and we will be done with Bush. And they want their canidate to win, which will not happen.

The Evangelical determination to continue this war, which I understand from all that I read is simply a way to protect Israel in some kind of a religious Crusade that they believe is foretold in the Bible, is simply a hoax. One can translate the Bible in many different ways, especially Revelation, where the meanings are not clear and the rhetoric is sometimes confusing.

That they would trade American lives for such nonsense is something I find disgusting. Yet, so few of the children of wealthy Evangelicals are serving in the military. "College first" is their way of avoiding combat, and we all know that, by that time, this war will be ended, because a majority of Americans, including moderate Republicans, want to end it.

Debates won't change their minds. Common sense or compassion are lost on them. They are religious zealots and our nation is being led to both moral and financial disaster because of them. Even many churches are turning their backs on this kind of belief.

Bush doesn't know how to fight a war. He picked a dunce (Rumsfeld to run the show and looked where that led us.)

Our troops should have been focusing on Afghanistan and Pakistan finding Al Qaeda. NOT TRYING TO GIVE IRAQIS FREEDOM AND LIBERTY MUMBO JUMBO.

Bush took his eye off the ball.

Bush is no general, that is for sure. All he knows how to do is clear brush back in Crawford.
