Hi, my dad is 45 years old, heavy smoker, poor diet, doesnt drink, does little exercise- within the past 6-8 months his abdomen has completely bloated to the point in which his sternum is visible even through clothing. His adbo is solid to touch, the rest of his figure is slim. pain free just restricting- he cannot bend down or walk long distances now. even sitting in certain positions are uncomfortable due to his abdo being so big and solid.
He has med hist of emphysema and ?copd.
Recently he has also been complaining of passing out and ?fitting. I have not witnessed this myself.
The only medication he is on is a salbutamol inhaler for the emphysema.
-also has had alot of heartburn, gastro reflux recently.
been eating a low fat diet for the past 3 weeks with no change in condition or size of abdo.
His GP is useless and has put it down to drink... even though he doesnt drink.
He will only return to see a doctor when he has an idea of what it could be to discuss with the GP, im at the minute wondering if it could be Ascites?
Any ideas?
