month old pit bull puppy cries, whines, and seems so hurt that he has to be locked in a crate while at work. I got my boyfriend a pit bull puppy for his birthday who is 4 months old now. We just got our own place and just got a semi-large cage for him to lock him up while we are at work. It varies week to week but usually he's locked in the cage 4 days a week 8 hours at a time. We've put him in the bathroom before and he hates it, whines, cries, ruins anything he can get his paws on! For a couple weeks we let him roam free w/ our roommates shitzhu and he seemed to do better having a playmate, but now he's alone again and we're locking him up cause we don't trust him quite yet. It seems even worse having him locked up now than before. I get home and he jumps and cries and howls for about ten minutes straight. He seems so hurt that we leave him and I'm worried leaving him will cause anxiety and aggression. Any suggestions? I bought him a kong (lost at the moment-just moved), but do you think that may help keep him busy? Help me, I love the pup and want the best for him!!!
I appreciate everyones feed back, the radio is a great idea. He's a pretty well trained pup so far, very smart, doesn't potty while we're gone at work, and soon will be in obedience training classes. I don't approve of leaving him home for 8 hours at all but there's no way around it for now. Soon when it's nicer out he can stay outside in a fenced area perhaps tied up (gotta research everything first
I guess our elderly neighbor offered to puppy sit every so often but I haven't even met him yet, hopefully he can visit him at least once a day. Honestly he's a great pup in the works and I don't want anyone for one second thinking we're not fit owners. He's number one on my list, I make sure to train, play, and love the guy as much as possible! Thanks for the advice to those who helped and no I'm not trading Ace in for a goldfish~
