...this problem? What helps? My 4 yr old Lab mix is attached to me. He has always slept near me. His bed now is at the end of my bed. He recently started whining at night. He would fall asleep around 8:30 or so and by midnight he was awake. I started keeping him up and feeding him later. Hoping that with a full stomach and having gone outside to relieve himself he'd sleep longer. But that does not seem the case. He seems to be afraid of the dark so I have night lights everywhere. I thought he had allergies because he was always scratching his nose on the carpet. I spoke with the vet who told me to give him Benedryl before bed to help his symptoms and to help him sleep. It seemed to work for a few days but we are back to whining when he wakes up. Anyone have any suggestions on how to help your Lab mix sleep thru the night? or at least most of the night? I wish I could understand him. I just don't want him to be in pain (although he still chases the rabbits!) or depressed for some reason. Warm milk and cookies??
