4 tone polyphonic tones

can someone tell me how to convert a multi tone midi file to 4 tone midi file so that i can update my handset with the tone..

Use Nokia PC suite. I do it. It is easy.

I use the Nokia suite, but I also use Anvil Studio, which allows you to actually view and delete channels, and isolate them so that you can pick apart a midi and get the channels you need to make your ringtone sound right.

you can uso the anvil studio to edit it and delete some chords of the midi file, just to fit in the phone
