3rd day of cycle hormone blood test - OK to test on another day?

I've been sent by my doctor to have a blood test as my periods are heavy and irregular. She has asked me to go along on the 3rd day of my cycle, but this would fall on Saturday - all the blood testing centres in my area are closed over the weekend. Am I better to go a day early, on the Friday, or two days later, on the Monday?
