restore it with itunes 9.2.and then try to unlock with same way. or look here

He is on v4.0 so im assuming u cnt downgrade or jailbreak the new bootrom? even custom firmware will not work i dnt think due to SHSH Blobs etc

If it has Cydia then phone is Jailbreak.
